Cecily L. Kaffer
Ms. Kaffer is AV rated in Martindale-Hubbell, and has been named in Best Lawyers in America in the area of employment law for many years.
Following her graduation from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1988, Ms. Kaffer served as law clerk to the late Chief United States District Judge Alex T. Howard, Jr. in the Southern District of Alabama.
Ms. Kaffer began private practice in 1990 and has focused on employment litigation since that time, representing public and private employers from many industries, including health care, aerospace, construction, manufacturing, hospitality, banking, publishing, newspapers, transportation, and childcare in state and federal courts and administrative agencies. She has litigated and arbitrated claims in all areas of employment law, including all categories of alleged harassment, discrimination and retaliation, wrongful termination, breach of contract, non-compete agreements, trade secrets, employment torts and FLSA/wage-hour litigation.
Ms. Kaffer has been lead counsel in numerous multi-plaintiff cases, in class actions, in pattern and practice employment discrimination cases brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and in pattern and practice housing discrimination cases brought by the U.S. Department of Justice.
Ms. Kaffer has tried more than 50 cases in federal and state court and in arbitration.
