F. Daniel Wood, Jr.
Daniel Wood is a Shareholder based in the Birmingham office. He has been a member of the Alabama State Bar since 1994 and regularly handles litigation by special admission in multiple other state and federal jurisdictions. Mr. Wood clerked on the Supreme Court of Alabama and his Appellate practice has spanned the Fourth, Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeal.
Mr. Wood represents regional and national corporate clients in employment and labor matters, and related aspects of risk management. His practice focus includes litigation nation-wide in arbitration, state and federal courts, and administrative agencies, as well as advising employers concerning situational decision-making and compliance and policy issues, in accordance with business needs and applicable statutory and regulatory schemes.
Such work has included recent jury trials in various jurisdictions for an international IT services company, ADR arbitrations for a national health care corporation, FMCS labor arbitrations pursuant to collective bargaining agreements for a defense contractor, and formulation and implementation of certain employee benefit policies for 50-state compliance.
Mr. Wood has been dedicated to an array of community service, including Board President of Ruffner Mountain (an 1100-acre urban preserve and educational center); officer of the Collector’s Circle, Birmingham Museum of Art; Better Basics reading tutor; and Chair of an advisory board to the UAB Department of Art/Art History. Otherwise, Mr. Wood might be found with family and/or outdoors, enjoying the region’s wealth of opportunities for cycling, paddling, caving, and backpacking.
